The Majestic – Leeds

Scaffolding - Majestic – Leeds

Project Overview: This iconic, Grade II listed building, in the heart of Leeds city centre, was badly fire damaged in 2014, leaving an unstable shell with no roof.

Completed on time and in budget, Scaffolding Access Solutions designed and erected an extensive, wall-to-wall bird cage scaffold to encapsulate the fragile building, after which the boarded top lift was ply-wood sheeted and felted to create a water-tight temporary roof, complete with sky lights, under which the renovation works could commence.

The weight of the massive upper bird cage and temporary roof required an equally massive supporting scaffold underneath to take the immense loads down to the basement floor. This supporting scaffold incorporated a beamed bridge top that allowed renovation activities to be undertaken at different levels over two years, during which time the scaffold was regularly inspected and maintained.
